The Women’s Continuum- Threshold care & Integrated body work

The Collaboration of Kayla Salopek & Kirstie Smith At birth time the village- annandale

A collaborative offering for women in pregnancy, postpartum, and times of physical, emotional, and life transition.

Held through change. Supported through becoming.

The Women’s Continuum is a collaborative in-clinic offering created by Kayla Salopek, Remedial & Somatic Therapist, and Kirstie Smith, Private Midwife & Craniosacral Therapist.

These sessions are designed to support women through important thresholds of the body and life — from pregnancy, to postpartum, to seasons of stress, change, and recalibration.

Blending midwifery care, remedial and somatic therapy, craniosacral therapy, therapeutic massage, and traditional rebozo support, each session is held within a quiet, warm, and intentional space where the body can soften, settle, and reorganise.

About the Offering

Women move through many thresholds in life conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, grief, identity shifts, physical pain, hormonal change, emotional overload, and the constant adaptation required by modern life.

The Women’s Continuum was created to offer care that meets women inside these transitions.

Our work brings together hands-on therapeutic support with an understanding of the nervous system, fascial tension, body memory, matrescence, and the profound physiological changes that occur across pregnancy and postpartum. At the same time, these sessions honour that women often need more than symptom management alone. They need a place to pause, be supported, and feel safely held as their body and inner world reorganise.

These are not rushed appointments. They are carefully held sessions designed to support regulation, relief, integration, and reconnection.

Our Threshold Sessions

Threshold Care: Held Through Pregnancy

In-Clinic Offering at Birth Time The Village

With Kirstie Smith, Private Midwife & Craniosacral Therapist, and Kayla Salopek, Remedial & Somatic Therapist

A therapeutic and supportive session to hold you through the quiet becoming of pregnancy.

This collaborative session brings together midwifery care and integrated bodywork, including craniosacral therapy, therapeutic massage, and traditional rebozo support. Held in a calm and nurturing environment, the session supports the physical and emotional changes of pregnancy as the body opens, shifts, and reorganises to carry new life.

Each session is tailored to the trimester you are in, recognising that the body’s needs change across pregnancy. Support may focus on common concerns such as muscular tension, pelvic or lower back discomfort, nervous system overwhelm, fatigue, postural strain, emotional intensity, or simply the need to pause and be cared for.

Through gentle therapeutic touch and craniosacral holds, the body is invited to release unnecessary tension, improve comfort, and settle into greater steadiness as it prepares for birth.

This session offers space to feel supported, grounded, and more connected with your body, your baby, and the unfolding transition into motherhood.

Duration: 90 minutes
Investment: $350

Rebates: Medicare rebates may be available for the midwifery component of this session. Private health fund rebates may also apply depending on your level of cover.

Threshold Care: Held Through Seasons

In-Clinic Offering at Birth Time The Village

With Kirstie Smith, Private Midwife & Craniosacral Therapist, and Kayla Salopek, Remedial & Somatic Therapist

A collaborative bodywork session for women in any season of life.

This offering is designed for women navigating times of transition, physical tension, emotional intensity, stress, fatigue, or the sense that they have drifted away from themselves.

Kirstie and Kayla work in gentle coordination, bringing together therapeutic massage, somatic bodywork, craniosacral therapy, and traditional rebozo support within a quiet and intentionally held space. With four hands supporting the body, these sessions create an opportunity for the nervous system to downshift, for tension to release, and for the body to feel safely met.

This session may be supportive during periods of hormonal change, grief, overwhelm, identity shifts, recovery from accumulated stress, or whenever a woman feels the need to be held in her process rather than pushed through it.

The intention is not only relief, but reconnection — helping you return to steadiness, presence, and trust in your body.

Investment:
90 minutes — $300
2 hours — $360

Threshold Care: Postpartum Closing and Held Session

In-Clinic Offering at Birth Time The Village

With Kirstie Smith, Private Midwife & Craniosacral Therapist, and Kayla Salopek, Remedial & Somatic Therapist

A ceremonial and therapeutic closing for your return to yourself after birth.

This collaborative session brings together midwifery care, birth debriefing, craniosacral therapy, therapeutic massage, and traditional rebozo closing. It is designed to support the early postpartum period by acknowledging both the physical demands of birth and the depth of change that occurs as a woman begins to integrate motherhood.

Held in a warm and intentional space, the session honours the profound opening of pregnancy and birth. Through hands-on support and traditional closing practices, the body is gently gathered and invited toward settling, containment, and reintegration.

Babies are warmly welcome in the space — resting skin-to-skin, beside you, or held by your support person.

This session is suitable in the first 2 to 8 weeks after birth, and may also be supportive following miscarriage or pregnancy loss.

Duration: 2.5 hours
Investment: $500

Rebates: Medicare rebates may be available for the midwifery component of this session. Private health fund rebates may also apply depending on your level of cover.

Why This Work Matters

Periods of transition can place real demand on the body. Pregnancy changes posture, breathing mechanics, circulation, connective tissue loading, pelvic dynamics, and nervous system responsiveness. Postpartum recovery involves tissue healing, hormonal recalibration, feeding demands, sleep disruption, emotional adjustment, and identity change. Even outside of motherhood, prolonged stress can increase muscular guarding, pain sensitivity, fatigue, and the sense of disconnection from one’s body.

Supportive body-based care can help reduce muscular tension, improve body awareness, encourage downregulation of the stress response, and create the conditions for recovery and integration. This is part of what makes collaborative care so valuable — it recognises that women often need treatment, support, education, and space all at once. Research on pregnancy and postpartum care increasingly highlights the importance of integrated, woman-centred support, nervous system regulation, and multidisciplinary approaches for physical and emotional wellbeing.
